Optimism?

So Prada was this season talking about how optimism is a choice, and how we should choose optimism in times like these. So I’m guessing there is supposed to be a strong statement of optimism in the collection. I’m not sure I see it. I get that she is trying to combine the elements of work and beach, with the mini shorts, the sandy, semi-wet hair, the silver fishnet skirts and the beachy prints on structured pieces. And that is a nice thought, but other than that. Meh.

I love the way style.com describes what we expect from Prada; “brooding subtextual brain teasing”. It is what we expect right? Is my brain being teased? Not really.

Then there is Just Cavalli whom I don’t normally pay attention to, but I looked through the collection anyway. He has managed to combine hippie, trashy, cheesy, 20’s silhouettes, Erin Wasson, Formula 1 (which I guess can be put in the cheesy category), cheap, expensive, grunge and even some pajamas all in one collection. Good job.

Now don’t get me wrong, there are some pieces I would definitely wear here. To bed. Just kidding. No I love this:

And then I am a fan of the black:

Side note: Hanne Gaby Odiele is so extremely cute and weird-looking.
