JENNY FRANÇOIS / music editor
“I never like going to bed without first a making a music playlist.” says New Jersey-based music writer/photographer, Jenny François. Born in Haiti, Ms. François discovered her love for music at the age of five, when her uncle brought home a cassette tape of Cindi Lauper’s ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’. “It was like this magical sound coming from that cassette player. All I wanted to do was dance and watch Bruce Lee films,” she recalls. Jenny has had her ear to the street of the music scene since 2001 and she has also gained the profound respect of the artistic community. She is the current Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of AekiTuesday.com, a music and pop culture site, which she started long before blogging was cool (and uncool). She was featured as a guest-panelist for Indie Night School, along with fellow music bloggers, Ultragrrrl, The Modern Age, and Gothamist, discussing the emerging NYC music scene. To fund her nightly music lifestyle, she works for a small children’s book publishing company. She is currently working on photobook documenting her years attending music events around New York City
