BILLY WINTERS began his career as a makeup artist working in new york and paris. He eventually transitioned to behind the camera, focusing on fashion and advertising. Now based in San Francisco, he travels often between Los Angeles and New York for projects. The boxing story for Issue 03 was a throwback to the 70’s when girls were heavily made-up with big hair and the guys were “prettyboys.” Winters explained, “We tried to capture the essence and energy of that era. The story was shot at the east oakland boxing association, a non-profit gym for teens.”
